The Opportunity

This is a highly structured, data-driven payroll role for an operational professional who loves optimization and streamlining compensation journeys after the hire.

As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for executing accurate employee compensation models while maintaining strict local regulatory compliance rules. You will manage helpdesks for pay queries, build payroll automation paths, and monitor processing metrics to eliminate administrative friction points. Working closely with human resource directors and executive leadership in Australia, you will establish the systems needed to scale employee satisfaction and corporate compliance.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Workflow Optimization & Payroll Management

Pay Run Optimization: Refine post-timesheet payroll processing paths, timesheet documentation templates, and communication workflows to ensure a fast, clear start.
• Pay Run Setup: Oversee calculation queues, organize support ticketing priorities for pay queries, and build standard operating procedures for payroll adjustments.
• System Automation: Build automated pay slips, notification rules, and tracking parameters within the payroll software to ensure no compliance detail falls through the cracks.

Superannuation & Compliance Loops

Superannuation Management: Manage and evaluate superannuation fund contributions, clearing house configurations, and employee fund preferences to eliminate allocation errors.
• Compliance Diagnostics: Monitor regulatory activity, identify tax scales showing low data alignment, and flag at-risk payroll configurations to account managers.
• ATO Compliance Support: Organize Single Touch Payroll (STP) records and end-of-year summaries to support accounting teams during regular Australian Taxation Office (ATO) reporting discussions.

Team Synchronization & Support

Experience: ~2–4 years of experience in Australian Payroll Operations, Compensation Management, Technical Payroll Administration, or B2B Financial Support Operations.
• Ecosystem Mastery: Practical, hands-on experience navigating and configuring service tool chains inside payroll platforms like Xero, MYOB, Employment Hero, or KeyPay.
• Analytical Aptitude: Strong comfort monitoring business metrics, parsing payroll and tax data, and translating customer feedback into clear system improvements.
• Process Engineering: Exceptional organization skills with a love for building step-by-step checklists, award interpretation rules, and internal compliance files.
• Soft Skills: Superior written and verbal English communication skills, high empathy-driven problem-solving habits, and absolute calm when addressing client bottlenecks.

WHY THIS ROLE

The Blueprint for Scale: Take ownership of the operational framework that protects recurring revenue and maintains client happiness for growing Australian firms.
• Frictionless Remote Model: Work inside a highly structured remote framework backed by reliable tracking utilities, account support, and smooth internal workflows.
• Operational Sophistication: Deepen your technical operations expertise by managing complex B2B payroll architectures and modern workforce compliance mechanics.
